“RecyClass” consists of three elements:
The online tool will show you to which extent a certain package is suitable for recycling. A scale resembling the well-known energy efficiency rating from “A” to “F” will help you in your assessment. A package easy to recycle will receive an “A” rating, while an “F” will indicate that incineration is the only feasible option. In order to assess your package and its classification please use this web tool.
You will gradually approach a rating result by answering questions relating to the package. Specific knowledge about recycling is not required as we will help you with explanations. Finally, you can choose to have your package certified by an expert.
In order to evaluate your product, open the initial screen to the RecyClass web tool and login.
Thereafter, the easy-to-understand tool will guide you through the questionnaire. At the end you will not only obtain a letter which categorises your package, but also a PDF document covering your entire request. Hence you can subsequently identify any adjustments which can improve the tool's rating result.
Assess, improve and endorse the recyclability of your packaging
In January 2018, the European Commission released European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy where it urged the plastics industry and its value chain to encourage and ensure a shift in production of plastic packaging. The plastics industry’s business as usual is at crossroads, as recyclability is becoming a priority aspect in packaging design. This has triggered several brands to announce pledges to work towards increased recyclability of packaging. More
Recycling starts in the product design phase. The key to more sustainable plastics is better design of plastics and plastics products.
